From Plant Killer to Plant Whisperer

I used to think I would never be able to keep a plant alive.
I’d walk into the plant shop excited about a new plant, pick out a new leafy friend, bring it home, water it…. and within a few weeks, it would be wilted and crusty. Yellow leaves, droopy stems, crispy tips my living room was starting to look like a plant graveyard.
At first, I blamed myself. Maybe I didn’t have a “green thumb.” Maybe I was just destined to be the person who kills succulents (seriously, succulents!?). But here’s what I didn’t realize: it wasn’t me, it was the soil.
The truth is, no matter how much love, light, or filtered water you give your plants, if the soil they’re sitting in is basically lifeless dirt, your plants don’t stand a chance. I was buying plants in plastic pots filled with whatever mystery mix they came with and never giving it a second thought. That was my mistake.
Once I started learning about what makes soil alive… things like worm castings, compost, and natural amendments, it was like flipping a switch. Suddenly, my plants weren’t just surviving, they were thriving. New growth, shiny leaves, blooms I didn’t think were possible indoors.
If you’ve been in my shoes, aka, guilty of plant murder, it’s not your fault. Nobody tells you that the secret to happy, healthy plants starts underground. That’s exactly why I put together a Soil Guide, so you don’t have to go through the heartbreak (or the guilt) of losing another leafy friend.
